Wow that was a informative read. Also those videos were amazing to watch. The Pileated woodpecker strips the wood. I never realised that is how they work on it. Also they have a pretty big territory and seem to stick with their mate. I wonder if the female in your photo has a partner somewhere near by. I hope they have cute little woodpecker chicks, and have a safe and peaceful summer.
