I've thought about this having elderly and birds that don't have a healthy system. I don't think I would do a necropsy but for my younger ones yes.

My vet talked me out of doing a necropsy for Sunny. He said he would do it, of course, if I really wanted him to, but believed whatever the actual cause that is was basically just old age. I'm actually now glad that I didn't have it done, although I did have some doubts right after. For a younger bird though, I think I would.

I too thought another bird died which is sad.

If you have other birds & don't know why a bird died I do think its very useful.
