I used to purchase children's books to read to Emma. Then that got old because she's too bright so I stopped.:hehe:

Now I have 3 parrots, SO time management is of utmost importance.

I read out loud when I'm studying while Emma sits on my shoulder and politely listens.:)

Sometimes it's the most driest stuff to read but she doesn't care as long as I read it aloud.:D These days Emma gets to hear all about finance and current economic conditions. When I feel like reading her lighter stuff she gets to hear about The Richest Man in Babylon.:D

I read birdie magazines to them, and show them pictures .. does that count??

I'll often read an online story out loud, and ask their opinion .. kinda like talking to myself, but with an audience

We do a lot more singing/dancing type stuff .. and I talk to the Caiques while I'm working out on the mornings I work out from home, they help "push" me for 10 more sit ups ..

I don't read...tried it and they didn't seem to care.
I do sing to them though, and that, for the most part, they enjoy :)

My son reads to them. Our personal pets and the ones that come in for rescue.

He reads to each new one that comes in to calm them and make them happy...<His words<

btw he is 7

Saemma - the way i study best is to read things aloud. It helps me memorize things, and understand them better. Often, if not always, while i study Either Rowan or Cookie is sitting with me, or in their cage next to me while i am reading :)

Yep. Whatever I'm reading. The budgies especially like it.

KerBear loves Goodnight Moon and A Million and one cats.
She also gets to hear a lot of precidents and federal law. She doesn't seem to mind dry textbooks either:)

Rydia goes nuts when I sing to her. I've got to get a video of it one day. And she loves it when I read to her. She'll put her head near my mouth and chatter to me. Hmmm. I should really try to get a picture of THAT too!

My words exactly! Prudence is entirely uninterested if I try to read a book to her - she just wants to chew it. But singing, now that stops her in her tracks!

I read to Joey. His favorite books were Goodnight Moon and Where Do Kisses Come From. When I'd get a book our, he'd get to me by whatever means was the fastest and he'd sit on my lap while I read. He'd look up at me, then look down at the pictures as I'd point things out. No one else likes to be read to so I haven't picked up one of their books since Joey left.

We do have a big reading chair in the bird room...

Maybe I should read them my study material (courses for my Clark Kent day job)...it actually helps me read aloud to myself, I never though about including the feathered buddies.

Good idea!

Same here :D Except it's Elvis that says "woo!"

Mine are not the intellectual types ;) If a conversation moves much beyond how pretty and good they are, they tend to get bored and interrupt (loudly). :p

I don't read to them. I sing them silly songs, or make up my own melodies as I am talking to them.
They LOVE it. Tequila most of all just starts singing back and dancing and getting her groove on. :hehe:
