Whiskers Carlton John Ward died on March/8/2021 at 10:00 AM.

He was friendly, cuddly, playful, adorable, awesome.

I loved him. I still do.

But it's my fault. Completely my fault. I feel like such a terrible person. He didn't deserve this.

He died in my arms. Painfully, I imagine.

Please don't ask me what happened. I don't really need other people telling me what a cruel pet owner I am. I feel so guilty already.

I see a sweet, happy boy who was well loved and appears to have had a much better life than many. Whatever happened, please don't be too hard on yourself. I understand self-blame; I was the reason our green cheek Pistachio died. All we can do is do better. I won't make my mistake again and I know you won't either.


I'm glad you have so many pics of your guy. I don't know how it happened, but after our girl Camilla died I couldn't find a single picture of her. She was an amazing rattie & looked a lot like your guy.

I'm sorry for your loss. I could tell that you loved him so much. Love is a powerful thing, it reaches beyond the limits of this world. The love will reach Whiskers, and tell him Rebecca loves you and was very sad you died. You can make something to remind you of Whiskers, like a story, legend, a beautiful craft, or a song. I feel like an awful awful awful pet owner sometimes. Or I feel I'm not doing enough. But I try my best, and accidents do happen. If you wanted to share what happened we won't judge. If you don't that's okay.

I’m so sorry for your loss, he was gorgeous.

You gave him a safe home full of love, that’s all any of us can ask for. I myself struggled with self blame after losing my green cheek and focused on the what-ifs, what I could of done differently.

Like said above, he looks like he was such a happy boy. Keep your memories close.

If it's any comfort, I think that animals have a better chance of making it into heaven than many people. I do not think I'd want to be in a heaven without animals.

Awwww I’m so sorry. I recently had my hamster die. I’m sure Whiskers lived a wonderful life.

Though it may not be much consolation, I believe every living thing except people is guaranteed to go straight to heaven. People have free will & a lot of power, which we don't always use wisely.

Everyone makes mistakes. Not everyone pays for theirs with their or someone else's life. I'm sorry you have. This is part of why I intensely dislike the Darwin awards.

"There is no pain so great as the memory of joy in present grief." -Aeschylus I can only imagine what you're feeling, & that's enough.

I don't know what happened, but I do know that Whiskers knew whatever it was wasn't on purpose & that you loved him. Of course you still love him; I'm sure he still loves you. Love is eternal.

You aren't a terrible person. You're a good person. Please decide to forgive yourself. Resenting yourself & feeling guilty won't bring Whiskers back, but will harm you. "Only the brave know how to forgive. A coward never forgives. It is not his nature." For most decent people, the person they struggle to forgive the most is themself.

You'll see him at the Bridge.
