Do I start taping the paper down? Lining the cage with bricks? Cinder blocks?

She pulled every bit of paper up, and threw it out of the cage. This pile is her doing, not mine. I even put extra sheets on top of the grate for her to shred so she'd leave the actual liner alone.

That's what I've been thinking - She had been offering me her butt a couple of weeks ago, but that seems to have thankfully stopped. She didn't shred the paper at all the last few days, and then today she just won't leave it alone. I've been keeping an eye on her vent looking for an egg bulge, but there's been nothing so far. I'm not offering warm foods, and I've upped her dark hours to 6pm to 8am (which is when it's dark anyway so it works out).

I mean... If shredding paper keeps her from barbering feathers, I'll take it. When she was peak hormone a couple weeks ago, she was chewing the crap out of herself. No plucking, thankfully, but the barbering went way up.

If she is pulling the liner from the drop tray, then what about no liner?
Just scrape the tray into the bin and wash/scrub/wipe down at the end of the day..?

I just went back to your other thread to see the cage from the front. Lay the drop trays lined with paper on the floor under the cage. It will create a little more space so she can't grab paper while also catching poops and some debris for easier cleaning.

edit, maybe add in a shreddable toy? Or wooden toy to destroy? Or some more foraging activities for when she's caged?

I tried that, she shattered it :roflmao:

I did end up putting the trays on the floor. She's BIG MAD about that, despite the fact that I put in paper for her to shred in the cage (a couple on the bottom, and then tied a few onto the walls)

If you give her a phonebook or similar, will that keep her occupied enough?

Burt loves papers, books and boxes to shred also. I put Burt's stash on the top of the cage so he has to hang from the bars at the top and rip it through them. I nearly always have a wad of paper, box or a book up on top of the cage otherwise he gets on the floor and pics up the poopiest bit of paper he can find to shred and then he gets crap everywhere (like I mean literally!)

We can get phone books from our local post office most times as they store a handful of them there incase someone needs one.

I feel your pain! Michael only started doing that a year or two ago, and it is very annoying. I now use binder clips to hold the papers in place. This thread may be helpful: How do you stop .
