Today I spent a few minutes just observing and staring at Mabel's beak from all angles.
I even looked under her beak..
For a few months I had wondered about how it was that eat time she bit into me she would always slice in to me. Mabel is not vicious nor were her bites ever meant to be but they always do BIG damage with very little effort from her.
Emma BITES hard too but has never broken my skin.
I was sure that Mabel isn't neccesarily stronger than Emma nor is she as defiant as Emma.
Today I realized that her beak is about 1/2 inch LONGER than Emma's in length. It is blunt and no longer pointy thanks to the lots of wood chewing she does but nonetheless......
that extra 1/2 inch is indeed very lethal.
Imho, it seems that length and shape can make a BIG difference when it comes to damage and power.
