We're getting a new friend Saturday...

We are going to go on a 1 hr trip this Saturday to pick up a female parrotlet.
I'm both excited and a bit nervous..
She's hand fed and pretty young, and
The breeder seems to really care about them, which is good.
I've done my research and looked around on the "Parrolets place"
And I think we're ready! I'm also the one informing my family about them to. Just so they know what they're getting into..

If anyone has any experience, feel free to post suggestions and info!
I'll be sure to post pictures by the end of this week.

New baby yay! Little bundle of sass and lots of love. It’s going to be a lot of fun. I let them settle in their cage for at least a few hours. Then I leave the door open for them to come out if they want to. Depending on the bird, they may stay in or they may come right out. Millet, nutriberries, and sunflower seeds are all great bonding treats. Music is great for bonding too.

Thanks everyone ! The more I think about it, the more exited I get..
(Of course I haven't forgotten about my tiels. )
I already have pellets and nutriberries prepared, I'm just trying to find common favorite foods among parrotlets.
I'll probably have at least a few pics by Saturday afternoon ish

That's usually what we do with pets
Off the top of my head right now, I'm thinking maybe Peanut or something that's turquoise related ..

Congratulations!! You will love her! I have Carmen (green) and Diablo (blue) and they are bonded. Before I got Diablo Carmen was my buddy. She would sit on my shoulder and keep me company while I did my chores. Now, she just wants to sit next to Diablo in their flight cage and cuddle all day.

Great wonderful bird. Mine is very similar to their cousin as they say the Amazon. They run the room and they own it. If someone gets on something they believe is theirs, they will fight to the death! They are adorable! Mine step up/down and kiss. I started with the stick first and then over time got them to trust me to stand on my finger. I also don't push them either. I kind of allow them to just have as much fun as they can in their room and fly free all day until bedtime.

Very much so. Mischief would get anything you had like gloves, your hat... and drop them in her water bucket. Trouble was born so early most vets wouldn't come out for a farm call, and he couldn't get up so I stayed in the stall with him and kept a sweatshirt on him. I worked his feet and legs and fed him till he was ready to get up.

I used to sing much to Twitter the first days, I noticed that it calmed him when I handled him so he would allow me to cuddle with him.
