Lilly, our 8 year old guinea pig, transitioned over the rainbow bridge last night. She was my son's (who rescued Sydney) guinea pig. Yesterday she was eating and drinking fine, but this morning she was already gone. Needless to say that my son is deeply saddened, especially because he wasn't able to hold and comfort her during her final moments.

Eight years is an extremely long time for a guinea pig to live. We are grateful she didn't seem to suffer.
RIP, our little Lilly. Our sweet and gentle little lady.

8 years is a long time for a guinea pig, but still too short...I'm so sorry for your loss :(

Lilly was a neglected guinea pig who we brought in to our home along with her sister, Molly. They were 1 when we got them. Their owners before kept them out in the garage and rehomed them because their daughter was afraid of them. Their daughter claimed that Lilly had bitten her, but in all the years we had her, she never bit any of us even once.
When my son was still in school, I would place Lilly on his chest in order to wake him each morning. That was the only thing that worked. A.M. cuddles with his piggy did the trick.
