Kathy start small-- back of a chair, cage, small tree stand-- with no distractions, offer a treat after stepping up, or coming to your arm (what ever works for each specific bird) slowly work further away, do a few days of making them step a little further every time, they will have to stretch and eventually flap a little to get to you. Once that is down pat start going further away(as long as they can fly to you, it will help perfect their landing skills as well), just a step or two is far enough. Before you know it you will be across the room with your fid flying right at you!!! good luck.
