I didn’t realize before I ordered it that people are not fans of BirdTricks. I don’t know enough about them to weigh in. BUT their fall/winter freeze dried food is a major hit. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Duckie fully chow down on a chop like this.
I’ll definitely need to copy their recipe because it would be a lot cheaper to make my own.
Also, the new little guy really tried everything in there for a good 30 minutes!
You can see his toe hurts him from the toenail clip at the vet yesterday. :( Im hoping that resolves soon.

Also, it’s raining so hard today! I didn’t realize how loud it would sound in camera!

Very cute! Your new one's toe should feel better in a few days.

Such cute, happy diners!

BirdTricks aren't evil, just kind of scammy. A lot of their diet advice is solid (even if it is advice they got from other sources-- I think one of their food items was just a rebraded version of a well-known pelleted diet), and their emphasis on the importance of recall training (even for budgies) has probably helped a lot of people. I think the bird community justifiably side-eyes them because of how hard (and successfully) they have marketed and profited off of their brand despite having none of the scholarly background and a fraction of the experience in the field as experts like Pamela Clark.

If they presented themselves as bird owners just doing their best (and just sold like, t-shirts, toys, and recipe books) instead of charging for consultations and classes, they wouldn't get nearly as much criticism.

Honestly after seeing this, I'm going to get some ! Maybe they are pricey but their nutrition is solid .
Can you show packaging and how it comes ?

Those videos are so cute!! Look at them chomp away!

I use BirdTricks' seasonal chop recipes - it's the only mix of foods that Cotton eats straightaway without seed sprinkle bribes, and without picking out the bits he likes.

Do you have to rehydrate it always? Or can you feed it still dried? I'm always trying to figure out ways to offer more veggies during the day when I'm at work and saw a video a while ago mentioning freeze dried veggies - but I haven't been able to find any that don't have extra stuff added in my grocery store.

They seriously loved it! Especially Duckie!

That makes sense. I was thinking recently about getting an avian specialist certification just to offer free services to folks in my area. I was inspired by the horrendous situations I’ve seen being brought into the rescue. People need guidance! But even then I was like, I’ve never owned a big bird, so I have no business giving advice… I believe in credentials but I also believe in lived experience and thorough research! You shouldn’t go with any one group or person. And every bird is so different.

Yay! Should I start a poll?

Oh, you use them too! That’s great!

Today was the first day I used it and I had soaked a portion overnight. So I’ve never tried any other way!

Definitely start a pole!

Thanks for sharing the food ,is it kept frozen? Or shelf stable ? How long did get before expiration? It really looks convenient! Right now I'm offering veggies in stages so to make sure all get eaten, tho they are good about everything sometimes they start just going after their favorites. So this would be nice to do a couple of times a week .

Expensive/ but convenient, especially if I can keep awhile

Cool I didn't know parutti that you did as well !

Would it be cheaper if a member in the states was willing to buy it direct and then ship it to you? :think1:

I have no idea, I’m in Canada and hardly ever get anything online…

only a few things from Amazon.ca and shipping was included.

It might be cheaper to find the ingredients separately and combine

interested in this question too! I make my own chop with mostly frozen veggies and microwaveable grains plus a few varied add ins like fruits or fresh chopped greens and seed sprinklings. Cost me anywhere from $40-60 but I freeze it in batches that last four months for my single lovebird! Don’t mind making the chop, but would love something this convenient if it holds up well. Plus it can be added variety!
