So I want to take flight shots and stick JoJo and Chickie on a boring table expecting them to fly off.

I love these! So that's how you get flying pics? I get them by putting Peanut in situations in which he usually flies (near his cage, playgym, etc.). Are you using the flash in these pics?

AJ, L. Scooter and Jackson fly 24/7 so I can just sit back and focus.
Just started back with flight photog today after a loooooong break :D
yes to flash.

yes to flash.
Wow, the colors look so natural. My flash always seems to go overboard and washes out the pic. Maybe it's because you're using external flash? Or maybe it's just my bad camera?
So have you experimented a little with shutter speed and ISO? Is 1/800 the "happy medium?" :huh:
