I have a friend that is flying south to pick up 6 pairs of parrotlets. She wants to put them under her seat while flying. When I traveled with my conure, TSA security made me take my bird out the the carrier, run the bag through the x ray. And my bird and I walked through secerity and got wonded. Has anyone traveled with multiple birds in a carrier on a airline?? Obviously she cannot take 6 birds out of the carrier safely. Thank you:)

I know with Southwest Airlines you need a psychologist letter stating that he birds are emotional support animals. You need to provide proof that you are being seen by the phycologist. Not sure if there are any other requirements though.

If I remember correctly, you should be able to request a room in which to comply and let the birds out in.

I just flew with my Goffin's two weeks ago, and they did make me take her from the carrier.

Did you send her through the xray? They make me take Echo out every time.

I think with Delta you can only have 2 birds per carrier and one carrier per person. Not sure about other airlines.

Can the birds be sent safely through x ray?
No. You have to remove the bird and walk through the gate with the bird to be wanded. They also will wipe your hands to be tested for drugs when you have a bird. I always thank goodness Echo tolerates everything when at the airport.

They made take her out before; she did not go through x-ray. I'm so glad we didn't have to do it with my macaw, because someone would have gotten bit.

Thanks everyone! These guys are flying Alaska Air. So if she puts them as baggage? do the same rules apply? Will she have to take all birds out of the carrier, let them scan the carrier, then put the 6 birds back in? I can't find any rules on traveling with a small flock via air line. Other than AK Air says she can have 2 birds in carrier under her seat.
