I know my birds can tell the difference between high potency and adult lifetime. I would do a slow transition to adult lifetime.

My birds also can tell the difference in taste between High Potency and Lifetime; but the cockatiels didn't seem bothered by it. My larger birds did notice, however and were stubborn about the change.
