Oh my goodness that is pure amazment to me!!

Look at all those fuzzy heads except the newest hatchling.

So a bratty grey male hey? LOL
So sometimes two Tiels will lay eggs in the same nest?

Please keep us updated ok?? :dancing:

Kristy...yes I have had hens share a nest in the past. There are 4 other boxes hung on the flight and no one will use them.

The surprising thing is that with that many eggs ususally 25-50% don't hatch...so since they obviously were incubated at the same time that must've accounted for the higher success in the eggs hatching. Normally an egg hatches every other day and the unhatched eggs get chilled or pooped on from the older hatchlings...thus they don't hatch.

:omg: Wowzers! Amazing cute cottonpuffs! I never knew mamas would share a box. You would think they would defend it from everyone. SO cute Susanne, thanks for sharing!:dancing:

Right now both Mommys are in there. The lutino looking Mommy is super friendly, and the other one is being real defensive, so I'll have to wait til one of them is out. But a quick glance they looked fed.

Well I hope all the babies make it and fledge out well. Luckily I don't live around you or I would have a Mousebird and now a Tiel. :hehe:

Kristy, my little village always has something interesting going on. I have some oversized eggs (larger than normal cockatiel eggs) that I candled, and they didn't look double yolk when candled, but might be a possibility of fraternal twins in the egg. I sure hop not because from past experiences 2 embryos sharing the same yolk have a slime chance of sucessfully hatching , whereas with 2 yolks the sucesses are higher. I'm hoping they just hatch out to be one large baby per egg.

The chicks are doing great! Full crops, and huddling nicely together for warmth. Thankfully the last egg is infertile, but thats OK...9 chicks are more than enough.

Hopefully tomorrow or the next day I can take them out of the box for a little bit to get some better photos showing them as they grow.

Look at those crops. The parents are feeding all the babies well. Tomorrow I'll try for a group shot.

And, the last pix is the busy-bodies that have to watch everything I do in the yard, and add their 2 cents :)
