If you have or had a yellow collared Macaw I would love to hear all about them:) I had never heard of them until my cousin called and said one chose him :dance4:

They are similar to hahns in personality. Hyper, nippy, bratty loads of fun:D

I don't know anything about Mini macaws at all:o:

Happy for my cousin though. I rmember reading if a macaw picks you then you don't usually have any problems.

Well thats not exactly true. Just like it isnt true for any other animal. To make a relationship work, it has to be worked at. :)

Sure you got past the main problem of it a bird wont like you or not, but it still needs to be worked with as other problems may arise like territorial behavior, cage territorialness (which can happen even to a favored person), etc.

Same as with any other species, it can be. It depends on the bird, its owner, time spent, type of training, etc. But, the short answer is, yes, they can be a little territorial. I can't do anything with my minis' cages while they are in them. They just don't like that :huh: So, I don't try it then. For the most part, though, if you are willing to grant them some independence, they're very smart, and training them is easy. :)
