My beautiful betta, who had no name but I often called him Baby Betta, has died. I found him nose down in the gravel when I woke up. My cousins (who happened to be over) and I buried him underneath my bedroom window. He was on his way out for the last few months, fighting until the very end. He had what I suspect was dropsy, but he was still the feisty old man he always was. He was with me for a wonderful year and a half, after who knows how long in one of those sad little cups at Petsmart.

My home now feels one fish emptier, just as in my heart. I dearly miss him.

Swim in peace, Baby Betta.

Thank you for the well-wishes.

I'm currently stripping down the tank, letting everything dry before I put it all away. My room just has a different energy now.

Thank you all so much for the condolances. I very much appreciate them.

I finished taking down the tank. Water drained, gravel bagged up. I'm going to scrub it down with baking soda and salt and then it will sit in wait until a new finned friend comes along.

I'm very sorry for your loss. :( I think fish really do add some energy to a room. I understand what you mean when you say the energy has changed

He was very beautiful. You obviously took very good care of him, and I know he must have thoroughly appreciated having such a wonderful tank to live in. Sadly many bettas never have an owner who cares for them the way you did, and never experience much more than those little plastic cups even if someone does buy them.

What you did for him was wonderful and he clearly repaid your love by brightening your home! I know when you're ready to bring another finned-friend home that fish is going to feel like he's won the lottery, too!:hug8:You are such a caring soul, all of your posts show that.

Thank you so much  It still hurts me to look at his empty tank, the plants he liked to rest on, the vase decoration he would pop his little head out of. It hurts badly, but I know with time my heart will mend.

That's what I mean. He not only had a tank instead of one of those silly, empty bowls, but he had decorations. Plants to rest on (enough plants to have preferences!) and a cozy vase cave. :D How awesome is that? What a charmed life he had! Thanks to you. :bluhug:
