And mean.He's so cute!
Hal is rather bossy and loud. He is the king of the littles and not timid but he is not "hand" tame so all his hair triggers are sharp as a tack. I think all little birds know instinctively that any bird that big (Tika is 10 times his size) is not competition but more of a predator and very bad odds of taking it on with success. Similar sized birds (different species) would be more inclined to see each other as competition and something they have some odds against.None of our other birds have ever been as inquisitive and in-you-face as the p'lets. Is Hal just a saint?
John good thing you don't have a GCC. They don't seem to care how large other birds are because in their mind conures are huge!
I wonder if that's our biggest issue: even though the birds have their own room it isn't very large at all. Maybe with a bigger space the p'lets would feel less of a need to in everyone else's business all of the time. While I love these guys their inability to realize they are only 5 inches long means major headache and heartache for sure.... so far the list of injuries is a cracked beak, snipped off toenail, and broken foot. I think our risk assessment is pretty clear.Everyone has enough space to have their own space. They've all shared all the space for 5 years.
As you know every flock has its own unique dynamic. If/when it comes together there's a lot of luck, a lot of hard work, a lot of patience, time and as much influence as we can instill along the way. It is what it is in the end.I wonder if that's our biggest issue: even though the birds have their own room it isn't very large at all.
