Saturday morning all was well when I let the gang out of their sleeping cages. Soentjie hung back a little as the scrabble for breakfast began, but then she doesnt like to be justled around by the gang.
Back from work at 4pm and she is sitting on a branch in the corner, wings drooping. Oh No!
Quick examination for injury, none visible. Breathing fast and wheezy. Emergency call to vet, 45min fast drive on the motorway in very heavy rain.
Diagnosis was quick. Remedy is Antibiotics heat. Hoping she will pull round, vet says she is in very good condition. But it could go either way.
I still dont know how it could happen. It has been cold here, and rains every day in a capetown winter. But they live draught free and have covered cages and nestboxes to hide in when they want.
Time enough for recriminations later. Hoping she pulls through!
