Welcome to you and your wife, I wish it could be under happier circumstances but I think you'll find that there's enveloping compassion and sympathy, not to mention understanding here.
Thank you for sharing a little bit about your life with Simba. I believe several of us who have lost our loved ones (I mean birds specifically) can relate and sympathize with you. Some of our losses were sudden and unexpected and others were ongoing battles which seemed to be winning but ultimately were lost. I am one of the "sudden" and to this day, still mourn my loss.
But I also remember the quirks, enjoyment, funny times and goofy things (like Kiwi, the Quaker, bathing in our geriatric cat's running water bowl). Please, please share those times with us too. While we mourn our losses, we can still as a group chuckle and laugh about the silly and funny things our fids did/we did/people suggested/thought and some of the end results. Sometimes a "celebration of life" is what we need as the emotional parronts that we are.
