Sid has left us

Just heard from the vet.
Sid had severe liver disease, leading to severe anaemia and eventually multiple organ failure (toxic hepatitis).
He fought it right until the end, such is the survival instinct of these birds. It was a privilege to get to know him.

Sometimes I think everything happens for a reason.
He didn't want leave this world before knowing he was loved and would be missed.
Many hugs to you for giving him a home but I'm also very sorry for your loss. ♡

I truly think if they are happy and loved they hang in there for them and us as long as they can.

Got the necropsy results yesterday but I've been running around dealing with another bird.
Sid had an enlarged liver and heart. His heart was probably already letting go when I got him. This explains his calmness, and ability to fall asleep near instantly when laid on his back (low blood pressure).
No toxins, infection or parasite. Official C.O.D - Multiple organ failure through natural causes.
He was just a weak bird that spent his last days with me. His body has been cremated and his ashes are on the way home. Going to scatter him on the roses in the communal garden, and maybe a little plaque.
