Goodbye to my 'little' buddy, I hope there are lots of salmon for you to chase across the rainbow bridge. Your brother has been waiting 11 years to howl with you again.

Shadow's health had been deteriorating rapidly since Thursday. He was 14.
I made the difficult decision to have him euthanized as he had no quality of life remaining by yesterday.
I knew it was coming but that doesn't make it hurt any less or the house feel any less empty. I miss him so much, he was here for half my life. He was a very special, independent-minded gentleman.

The little pack is together again.

It was time for his evening pills 20 minutes ago and knowing he isn't there has left me feeling very alone even though Peanut is here too (but gone to bed for the night.)

It's never, ever easy to loose a beloved pet, but take comfort in knowing he is free of pain now.

I'll bet he's dashing across fields like a yearling puppy right now on the Rainbow Bridge, playing with his friends. And I'm sure one day when the time comes, you'll see all your beloved pets again.
