(Sad Update) Keanu back at the vets. Extreme allergic reaction

TO ALOE! Of all the things to be allergic to! I thought that my vet had used it in his flush, but apparently not? I put some rub on the keel-injury, and within fifteen minutes he's screaming and broken out, and ripping at himself. I am a MESS. I spent most of my day crying. He went home with one of the techs, and I am just falling apart.

I was just trying to help ease the pain and make him heal faster.

Oh no! Poor you and poor Keanu!! It is not your fault! Don't beat yourself up. Allergies can occur at any time. I hope he recovers quickly.

What a freak thing to be allergic too! You and Keanu have been through so much already. Poor little guy. Like the others say, don't be too hard on yourself, it was not your fault, you'd never have guessed.

I'm so sorry. You could never have known. I don't remember who it was now, but a member had a bird that was allergic to Swiss Chard. Like my birds, her's loved Swiss Chard and it took months to identify the allergy.

The vet tech took K home with her so she could administer meds if K had another episode.

Aloe latex comes from just under the plant's skin and is yellow in color. Some aloe products are made from the whole crushed leaf, so they contain both gel and latex.

Are you kidding me....aloe?. Of all things. OMG... I am so sorry that you both are having to deal with the reaction. And I thought dealing with my horse being allergic to every vaccination was bad. Let us know how Keanu is doing?

A lot of them are also mixed with other stuff. I'm curious too if it was pure aloe or not.
