This forum is for advice about initial treatment given to your injured/sick bird until a qualified avian veterinarian is available. THIS IS NOT MEANT TO REPLACE VET CARE
Not the freezer.... the freezer destroys tissues and makes doing a necropsy so much more difficult. There's a much higher chance of getting an inconclusive result on a necropsy if the body is stored in the freezer instead of the fridge.
hun look at this as a blessing you could have been on your way to a vet but the stress it self would have killed him at least he died at home where he new he was loved even if he didn't show it you did the right thing in my eyes im glad you had to go to work

I feel your sorrow. One of my first Lovebirds got sick, she was always friendly so when she would get puffed and fall asleep on my shoulder I didn't think much of it. She started shaking and stopped eating and drinking all together, so I cried to my dad and we were off to the vet at 1:30 am. They told me she was depressed, dehydrated, starved (made me look like a bad owner,) and having issues breathing. My Lovie didn't make it through the night. So I know how you feel, but I also waited till the last possible minute. Plus I didn't want my Lovie's brother see his little sister pass in front of him.
I can't believe how much I missed his chirps and whistles today when I was spending time with my birds. He never let me touch him and he never wanted me close but he loved to whistle back and forth to me when I was across the room.
