I can't believe how much I missed his chirps and whistles today when I was spending time with my birds. He never let me touch him and he never wanted me close but he loved to whistle back and forth to me when I was across the room.
You've been on my mind today. I admired Doll's comments to you.

No matter what, we love these piles of feathers that are in our lives. We try, and try, to get them to accept us and they do....on their terms.

I'm just so sorry for your loss.

Took Monty to the vet for a necropsy this morning. I hope he didn't have anything contagious. Treating 5 fully flighted feathered hooligans is not my idea of fun. And I don't think I can handle loosing any more.

I am so sorry for your loss. You rock for trying to get him the help he needed. The little brats sure do tug on your heartstrings don't they?

Results of necropsy. All organs looked healthy. No sign of infection. The only thing found was a blood clot in his chest. And a broken blood feather with a small amount of bleeding. (There was no sign of external bleeding Sunday night. No blood on him or on his cage or cage papers). Vet said that he may have broken the blood feather during the night or very shortly before he died. (When I found him Monday morning he was face down on the grate right below his sleep perch and I did see the blood on him). Necropsy inconclusive but probably due to trauma such as a night fright causing the blood clot in his chest.

The vet did say his body condition indicated he was well cared for. Weight and muscle structure was good. No sign of fat deposits, atherosclerosis, liver, heart, or kidney disease.

My Monty is gone most likely from a fall sometime Sunday. I miss his whistles so much.

So sorry about Monty. He was a handsome boy. I'm glad though that it wasn't anything contagious and that your other fids are safe.

So sorry you've lost Monty. It is good though that he didn't have anything that would indanger the rest of your flock.

I am sorry to hear the news, sorry for your loss. Glad you had the necrosopy to rule out anything contagious.
