So Cha Cha and fingers have been bickering a lot lately. This with three eggs in the nest.
Only one is fertile, looks great. 75% full of dark shape. Nice big clearly defined airsac at the oval end. Still it's two days overdue.
So I split the pair, put Fingers in a spare cage overnight. Lots of visits but no time to fight.
Peace descends. I can hear the TV again!
But Cha Cha showing signs of disinterest in the nest. Will she abandon it? Does she know the good egg is overdue?
Hmm I grab it and put it in the incubator for now. She still has two duds.
Open the cage door this morning as usual. Wandering about the flat, Fingers chirping on my shoulder. Wait. That's not Fingers, it's Cha Cha. She's Back!
She wants to play. Nest forgotten.
Two hours later the mating begins again
Somebody tell her the breeding season is over?
