I was wondering the same thing. Can this bird reproduce, and if yes, can it play both roles? Or only one? I had no idea something like this was even possible in birds!

I believe it has both ovarie on one side testie on the other , imagine sterile. Estrogen probably cancel testosterone. If could I think the female side would win.
But they are so very rare , that unless passes and they do necropsy we might never know.
Life/nature so endlessly fascinating!
