I'm not planning on getting a fish tank until later this fall, when I've learned everything I can about fish and all the problems that might occur so I'll be prepared if anything happens and I'm trying to wait until I have a stable job so I can afford to buy the stuff I need to care for them. Anyways, until then, I'm going to research and research.

What's the best online active fish forum? I'm looking at getting mollies and tetras as these are my first fish since I was younger (which my parents cared for them for me). Both parent had fish when they were younger (before they had kids is what I meant) so they know quite a bit about fish too and I've already asked them all I can think of, hehe. Right now I'm on a fish forum called: www.fishtankforums.com- or if any of you know lots about fish feel free to ask questions to me and any advice would be greatly appreciated. :)

Thanks, Victoria

Yeah, kinda "busy" isnt it, "gallon of water per inch of fish"..Badman's tropical fish is excellent and for those big guys I like monsterfishkeepers.com and waterwolves.com, lots of good info on keeping large fish together and the the little surprises along the way.................

Fish geeks was one of the best fish forums on the net a while ago, I am not sure now how good it is...

Facebook has a few fish groups as well..

I'm starting out with a 10 gallon tank, I'm only going to have 4 or 5 fish probably because I don't want it too overcrowded.

Even a single goldfish is not for a 10 gallon tank.

Minimum 20 gallons for a single goldfish, 5-10 gallons for each additional. Also, stronger than normal filtration is required as they don't have stomachs and excrete a LOT.

Unfortunatly the posters before me are correct. Most goldfish ideally need atleast a 55 gallon when they are full grown, which is how you stock fish (you look at max adult size as opposed to size you get them when you buy them) I have 5 goldies in my 55 gallon and love them they explore the ENTIRE tank. I wouldn't put them in anything smaller.

With a 10 gallon fish you are looking at (not all together ofcoarse):
-Betta (many people divide the tank in half and put a male betta on each side)
-Shrimp
-Dwarf gourami
-Honey Gourami
-Ember tetra
-Neon tetra
-Celestial Pearl Danio
-Guppy
-Endlers livebearer

and there are a few others depending on how much you keep up with your tank.

I'm always on a forum called fish lore (www.fishlore.com) its really active and there are many people who are breeders on there along with people like me who just have too much time on their hands and google fish all day. Be careful fish tanks are like birds you almost always want another after the first one. I have 6 tanks currently with fish and running.....
-150 gallon saltwater reef tank
-125 gallon freshwater Planted tank
-55 Gallon goldfish tank
-29 Gallon saltwater seahorse tank
-29 Gallon will be a quarenteen tank but currently I have two blood parrot cichlids in there until I can rehome them
-10 Gallon Betta tank

Then I'm setting up another 10 gallon soon I think with guppies.

Victoria, now that you are a member at a goldfish forum, and you do not seem to want to take my advice, please ask the people there what an appropriate size tank & filter is for goldfish.:hug8:
