It should be fine.
You should run it on high outside or in the garage for a few hours to be sure it won't have to "burn off" anything smelly.
Also, don't let the birds ever land on it, even when cold so they won't touch it when hot either. I have an older Delonghi model and never have to run it so high that it would be a danger to touch but I don't know how you will use it.

I run mine outside for three days and three nights nonstop when new because a lot of gases are outgassed.

I have one that I use to keep my Harris's hawks warm on the porch during the winter. I ran it on high outside for a while before I used it with the birds. Same brand. Never any problems. It does tend to start smelling a little hot if I put it on the high setting.
