I recently lost my lovely little Zebra finch Star to old age and my P'let Gizmo has been very quiet since and just seems sad without a feathery neighbour. A friend of mine has a friend who is wanting to rehome a blue throated Conure as they cannot deal with it behaving as you would expect a parrot to behave (noisey, biting, feather plucking), the bird is being shut away as it is no longer liked, is now plucking and biting and that makes me feel sad too .
I am considering this bird as a new potential buddy for Gizmo as I plan to get another bird any way as I don't like to just have one bird in a house by itself. Although the noise level of a Conure is probably more than I will be allowed with my partner not being overly noise tolerant I wanted people's opinions on whether a P' Conure is a suitable sized companion for a P'let, I want a 2nd bird that Gizmo can safely interact with if they like each other (they don't have to interact but I want a safe sized companion if they do want to too). I know all birds are individuals and any I choose may not get along but I just need a general idea, I have seen pics of p'lets with missing beaks from larger birds attacking them and I really don't want that, they will be living next door to each other or opposite once I get the larger cages I'm planning once my boa gets a viv upgrade. What do you think?
Other species I'm considering are a bourke, linnie or mountain keet, or another p'let (maybe a spec or green rump). There are so many choices and the main one I'm leaning towards is a linnie at the moment
Thank you
