When I took my red bellied parrot out of her cage this morning she can't put weight on her left foot. Being a Saturday in a smallish town, there are no avian vets available to look at her. Anyone have any ideas of the cause and if it's potentially life threatening?

Sorry about your red-bellied parrot's foot. Can your bird grip with that foot? If you reach out your finger will she grip with that foot? Do you see any redness or swelling? Any wound/wounds? Look at the cage and her toys and see if there is anything she could have gotten it caught on. You may want to call around to emergency vets and see if any of them have experience treating birds. Ask how many they see a day, a week, etc.
