Our new gcc

Meet Mozzie our 4 mo. old gcc. He is so much fun and quite a character. We are working on clicker training now.

What a lovely fellow! I bet he drops like a rock with a wing clip that severe, though, unless that's just a trick of the camera. If so, you might want to put some padding underneath his play areas for his safety.

If he's 4 months, it shouldn't be too long before he starts his first molt. He'll regrow those feathers and be buzzing around like a little turquoise helicopter before you know it.

I'd be very careful with a flighted conure. I let Kiwi be flighted for a while, he got into all kinds of trouble... Like trying to personally say "hi" to the Quaker Parrots.

I just clipped his wings, now he's back to his silly self. And he's back to being a mama's boy (which I love.)

He's beautiful! I'm glad you plan on allowing his flight feathers to grow back in. Mine came to me with butchered wings but they grew back in within six months, thankfully! Learning to fly was rocky but it was worth it. While there are risks to having flighted birds and safety precautions must be taken, I believe that the benefits of allowing them to fly far outweigh the negatives, especially when you see their personalities fully bloom.

I'd love to see what you do with clicker training him too!

Thank you everyone for the nice comments on Mozzie. Ark, I am going through the clicker training classroom on this forum by braveheartdogs. I just introduced the stick today and it didn't take long for Mozzie to know what I wanted. I do appreciate this forum and all the helpful advice.
