Our ekkie ate some Avocado tonight

Hi,

I made a large salad today for dinner, and when my wife got home she added some avacado.

I gave a small portion of the salad to our 2 year old female ekkie, who ate a small portion of avacado...probably about 1/2 the size of a penny. It was just the meat, not the skin or pit.

How serious a problem is this?

I think your Ekkie should be fine given the small amount ingested but keep a close eye on her and be ready to take the appropriate actions if something does go wrong. I'll have to try to find the article but last thing I read on Avacado was that the meat was not toxic, but the pit and the skin were so most people just avoid it altogether.

she should be ok..it was such a small amount, but do keep an eye on her

If it was only a little bit, your Ekkie should be OK, keep a close eye on her though and if she starts going really off (as in not herself) then you will need to take her to an Avian Vet.
