Opinions on cardboard cat scratchers as bird toys?

I saw a video that said that those cardboard cat scratchers (without catnip) can be good enrichment toys for parrots if you put seeds and treats in them. I was thinking about trying this out since my Amazon loves to chew on things and she’s already destroyed a lot of her toys. We have already ordered more toys online but because of where I live, it takes a long time for things to ship. Would a cardboard cat scratcher be a good option for enrichment while the toys arrive?

The important thing is to check all the materials in any item and look for glue.

I have given Burt a few over the years as he loves cardboard. Some have a bit of hot glue I’ve had to remove (usually holding a decorative thing or a fancy border joining) which was easy but other than that I’ve not found anything to be a problem with the ones I’ve used.

Yes they are safe :) If you get ones that are sold as "refills" they usually have less junk.

Any item not meant for birds is best not to use for a toy.

I mean, 99% of what we provide our birds isn't actually made FOR birds. Even balsa and pine are not produced with that use in mind.

I always have a nosey in the rodent section for shreddables and bowls - recently I got a bridge for hamsters to create a ledge for my special needs girl. She used to have a guinea pig house when she was young.
Favourite shreddables we´ve found in the past were those mats for rabbits.
I got a great piece of wood/vine from the reptile section.
My youngest hens favourite toy are those little plastic balls for cats with a bell inside.
And my youngest male is in a comitted relationship with his puppy kong.

I leave all doors open but inspect things thoroughly and proceed with caution.
