Ok here we go! On my way to Virginia!

I'm packing up the rest of my bird stuff as we speak, have consolidated everything, and much to the poor fid's unhappiness the makeshift cages are GONE.

Packed away in a box and they are in their travel cages.
I have towels, blankets, things to pad the bottoms of the carriers.
I have food and things I know they will eat while travelling. They have nearly full flights so I'm not going to be openning the cages much.

I've seperated the trip into two seven hour days and one four hour day...

Anything else anyone can think of that I'm gonna need?
I've never done this LONG of a trip by myself before so...

OH and water bottles of water from the house for them as well.

Good luck! Go with the flow of traffic once you reach Virginia and don't speed. State police are everywhere and notorious, and 80+/20 over is a misdemeanor. Don't risk it.

So glad you know. So many out-of-state people get screwed by it. SW VA born and raised, but lived in NOVA for a few years too. The trips down 81 are always harrowing, between the tractor trailers and state police.

Made it to a hotel tonight and the birds are chowing.
Then again slightly oversweetened bird bread is one of the few things they will refuse.

I don't think Maiboch ate much on the trip which really is bothering me..

She is doing the picking through food thing for seed which she had stopped.

This must be stressful e.e
So she gets an extra bowl of food to pick through tomorrow.
