Zoe went in surgery later at 1:45. Secretary phoned me about 20 min ago to say her eye is out and vet will be calling shortly. Waiting anxiously for that phone call

Vet just called. All is well and I will be going around 6:30 to visit and if she is awake enough and eating some she can come home. She explained that they did a new procedure which takes out the contents of they eyeball but still leaves the boney shell in place. New studies show this is a good option. This was a joint decision with two avian vets doing this procedure. Praise God!

Eewww but I'm glad that she is okay. I hope you can take her home tonight. What a trooper you both are.

She will have stitches that dissolve. Vet said could take 3-4 weeks because the are on the outside. And she will be highly medicated on pain meds for a few weeks as well.

They let her come home. And sent home pain meds and antibiotics to be given 2x a day. So they said when you get her home give her pain meds. I was nervous for the towel not to rub the stitches but managed to give her meds. No I have to watch she doesn't scratch at stitches, infection and weight loss. Plus they are closed weekends which means emergency care if anything comes up.

She was so happy to be home, perked right up. Put her in a smaller dog crate cage and she was climbing all around and even doing flips. Wow was so surprised since just 2hrs before she was so groggy. She ate some snacks and settled down. Now covered for the night. She will be in that small cage for a few days.
