As most of you know I've been struggling to find a collar that really works for Zane. One he couldn't break out of. It's been a week since his latest collar was made and he can't break out of it. It was modified 3 days ago he now can't get to himself either. I've been dreaming of this collar for years. I think it's safe to say now it's here. :D

It's gonna improve his quality of life dramatically. He'll have so much more of out of collar time. And be able to have misting and proper bathes more often too. Once his wound heals up I'll no longer worry about it getting infected. His overall life and health will just be that much more better.

It's crazy to think that the main reason I'm here now is because on a whim I decided to email a company I saw of Shark Tank. And even crazier is that they helped me! The company is called LocTote and the fabric they use to create this bag Flak Sack COALITION - Loctote Industrial Bag Company It is the same fabric that's helping Zane. It's amazingly tough!

I didn't do this on my own. I had alot of good people helping me. That includes all of you! You were really supportive of this journey and I just want to say Thank you!! :grouphug: I want single out a few people.

@Karen for letting me send the super strong thread to her only available in the states and then mailing it to Canada for me. Used in the second collar

@SpecialistElbru for finding and mailing a special fishing line to me that was also used in the second collar

And @Danita for letting me know about the fleece collars that the WPR birds were using. It was that sparked idea there's got to be something better than plastic plates
:grouphug3:
Also Thank you to @zoo mom @EllaMay and @Porter for reaching out and offering to help too
:hug9: AA really is a special place where people reach out and help each other. And Thank you to all who read this far down while I babble on :hehepink: I feel like I'm writing an acceptance speech:giggle: Here's my boy Zane in his very special collar

That's amazing! It looks great and as practical/comfortable as a durable collar possibly could, I'm so happy for you both. :hug8:

And thank you to everyone who came together to help him.

I knew you would engineer the heck out of that thing and make it work. Such fabulous news. :hug8:

You might consider making and selling them to others. :)

Thank you everyone!! I am so thankful for this collar!! I'm in somewhat disbelief over it. I love Zane so much!! But damn he stresses me out with his self mutilating. So the fact that he can't do it anymore is such a weird thing to get my head around. Its weird but letting go of that stress I think take some time and getting use to.

Thank you John :hug8:
I can't really take the credit though. I swear it's the fabric. It's called FLAKnit and its crazy strong!! Zane hasn't been able to put a dent in it and he has had it on him almost 24/7 for a week. And Zane puts dents in lots of things!! :glowlol:

About about making them and selling them I'd love to, but it's really not up to me. It kind of took a village to make this collar. First thing I don't sew and I ended up going to someone who had industrial sewing machine. The woman, Chris who sewed it couldn't have been lovelier. She really care about making Zane as comfortable as possible. Not only that she donated her time and gave me things for the collar.

Secondly the fabric itself isn't available to the general public to buy. It was develop by LocTote and Honeywell. Don the CEO of LocTote gave me All the fabric for free!! For all 3 collars! He was incredibly generous to me and really supportive. I wrote a long thank you email to him today.

Now I don't know what's going happen next but if LocTote wanted to use Zane for some sort of promotional thing I would be totally fine with that. First the company has been really good to me. Second I think it's good to get Zane's story out there and help raise awareness about birds in need and how difficult they can be as pets. So to me that would be a win win :) I know he has been on their facebook and blog already so who know maybe there's more to come... If you read the blog post you'll see they consider him their official spoke bird and poster bird :roflmao:

Wow another long post from me  You can tell I'm happy and fired up when I'm wordy :tongue2:

That's a fantastic collar. Great that you were able to create something that Zane can't destroy.

That's fantastic. Well done for for never giving in.

I really hope that somehow Zane's collar ends up as the prototype for development into a product available to other parronts and their birds who need it. Maybe LocTote might see a market in manufacturing these?
