My Bean/Veggie/Fruit/Nut Mix
I cook this for 15 Fid’s so this will make a Very big BatchJ I freeze it in quart size freezer bags and take it out as needed. One bag = 2 Meals for My Fids!
I start with 4 bags of 15 bean soup mix(throw away the seasoning).
Soak the beans over night(very important)
and I go an extra step and drain the beans, rinse and add clean water during the soak time.
Cook the beans at a slow simmer for 20 minutes to a half hour(not long enough to get mushy) Add a 2 pound bag of frozen mixed veggies(My Fids love corn-so I add an extra one pound bag of frozen corn) Mix well! Then I add a large bag of Human grade Trail mix(from Wal-mart) This mix has lots of nuts(even Macadamia) Some of the pieces of fruit might be rather large-I cut the big pieces up into smaller pieces. Mix well, let sit for 15 minutes or so, then Drain really well!
I always serve this warm in addition to what ever Fresh fruit/veggies I have for the day!

:rofl::rofl:Yes it doe's make a BIG Batch, but it will last 2 weeks:) ALL of the fids eat it-they ALL have their favorite things out of it-that is why I combined My 2 mixes together! After I cook the hamburger I drain it well-then after it cools-I sprinkle it with Spirulina-mix it well and into the mix it goes:) Its the one sure way of Getting Jimmy to get some Vitamin A:) He loves the burger and Macaroni.

Hamburger??? That's a first. Truely loves hamburger as does Trinket, but I don't give them much because I thought it was not healthy. I am going to try and make some this week.

Looks similar to the "mash" I make for Kiwi. I use Volkman's Soak & Simmer as my base. Then I add fresh veggies, applesauce, baby veggies, and/or Cayenne Pepper. I mix it up as to what I add each day. I just store the cooked base and change what I add to it each morning. I also serve it warm. She LOVES it!

Patter that looks wonderful!

I need to get those soak and simmer beans on my next order, I heart Volkmans products.

I also cook and drain off hamburger meat for my birds....a small amount won't hurt them....and when you mix it all into the other stuff...they do get a small amount
You can do the same thing with skinned/boneless Chicken breast cooked in the oven and then chopped up and put into their FRESH veggies also...:hug8:

They all look great. I am going to have to make up my own recipe over here, half the items you mention would be unable to purchase.:(
Years ago went to swap recipes with a pen pal from Indiana, but half the items we had never heard of and half we could not get, so that was doomed to failure from the start.:(

I am in the process of making this mash recipe right now!

Would whole wheat pasta be ok?
