Since I have reintroduced myself on the welcome lane I am going to reintroduce my birds. Pearl is my baby, my darling crazy cockatoo. She is 3 years old and a bundle of joy. I am so very glad I have her, but I must say she is the most difficult of my birds and would recommend venturing into the world of 'toos with extreme caution. I wouldn't give her up for anything, but some days I kind of wish I had never met her, does that make sense? To keep her sane and happy she has the largest cage available and a 17x22 sized room of her very own. I had her on the main living floor for the first couple of years and she was allowed free reign of the house. (she has always been flighted) You would think that would be ideal, but in her case the privacy and less action has made her so much happier. It is easier to keep her on a solid sleep schedule and less excitement. Now it is peaceful and relaxing to go and sit with her, where before it was mayhem. I do miss her mid-afternoon conversations I could hear from my desk but it has turned out to be the best thing.
