He is so cute! Looks very sweet!

I'd love a little pig if I didn't have to worry about it growing up into a 90 pound beast..:p Maybe one day when I have a home and some land..:D

Hi waterfaller.
i just joined this site and am wondering the same thing. Everybody wants pigs when they are babies but then they grow until they are three years old. Most fall for the "teacup" lie-- like saying your ten pound baby won't turn into a grumpy teenager. Ninety pounds is not a beast! They are short and compact. Many dogs are bigger than pot belly pigs.

I agree with you. Please post a recent photo of Mud.

I had pigs when I was a little girl. I've always said that I'll have another before I die. Your little one is gorgeous!!! I have checked out micro pig breeders but haven't made the plunge...yet. I've got to break it to hubby slowly!

Hi Sharon,
Please don't go to a breeder! In the US there are so many sanctuaries for potbelly pigs, and those who get "too big" are dumped there. Just look online- Pig Placement Network lists animals from all over. Breeders just make the problem worse by promising ten pound pigs.

Benefits of an older pig include that he is already full grown at three years & socialized. Plus he will be extremely grateful for a herd of his own. If you are zoned and have a fenced in yard that he can root in, then it is feasible to have a pig. There is a lot of learning before getting a pig, much like what I am seeing on this forum about birds. (I want one too, bu my family says one exotic is enough)

I'm in Canada...I'm not aware of any sanctuaries here, but I haven't really researched much yet.

I know I've seen some here who got some pretty small pigs, but my potbellies were 200lbs and 250lbs and were not overweight. They did live outside, and shared my dog's fenced in area. Pigs are very smart and very strong so a good chain link fence that goes to the ground, or even in the ground is your best bet.

There are a lot of pigs in rescues as people don't realize how big they will get, or that they can be destructive and may do things like rip open the cushions on the couch and then crawl in for a nice piggy bed. I see them constantly on CL, too.
