Can anyone help me, i saved a red faced mousebird with broken tail feathers, got the little one checked out, he is perfectly healthy. I just want to find out if his tail will grow back or will it remain short. Poor thing is completely off balance without the long tail. Still a young bird.

Feathers will grow back once the old broken ones are molted out.
I don't know mousebirds in particular, but a young one may get new adult feathers in a few months or it may take as long as a year.

I think most birds molt out feathers and grow new ones in off and on every 6 months or so. I have seen birds start to grow them back fairly quickly when they loose a bunch to accidents though. He will grow them back in time as long as the follicles aren't damaged and they probably are fine.
