My mom hates birds so it's one of the few things we were not allowed growing up. I really don't know bird behavior or handling very well because I've never even seen it. My husband and I did have some untamed budgies for awhile and I had a very shy linnie that I mostly let come and go without touching him. We built a bridge from the cage to the desk and I'd put out a dish of treats he would visit. We have a house now and are getting our first actually interactive birds without having to care about noise. I have been watching youtube vids just to see people interact with birds. We picked up Kigiri the cockatiel yesterday and in a few months my husband is getting his quaker from the same person. Kigiri was hand raised and steps up so far without fail. He was much happier that I spent time with him today than leaving him to settle in his cage alone. He looked out the window and sat on my computer monitor while I made more modifications to his cage and when I put him back he finally showed interest in the millet. I don't have internet on the desktop in that room yet but working on that tonight and then I can play video for him when I'm not up there. He came from a house full of birds to one with just some quiet mammals and I think the silence is concerning him.
