So i have a new Green Cheeked Conure, He/She was not planned, he just flew into our house starving about a month ago. i haven't found his owner I've asked around neighbors i know own birds and around the block, and checked lost/found pet sites, but nothing.
He was very nippy/territorial at first (I'd say understandable) he has calmed down and only bites if i dont get the message the first time. now he seeks my attention, sometimes he lifts one foot and places his back against his cage mumbling happily,
I scratch which he seems to be okay with then suddenly turns to bite my finger, then resumes to rub himself against the cage as if he wants attention or something? i then try again with my finger, he bobs his head up and down for a bit (always with one foot up and his back against the cage) then turns for a bite, repeat. I'd rather not get bitten thankyouverymuch i know first hand what your beak can do heheh. the bites dont seem aggressive to me, but he does know how to be gentle (example my ear, he nibbles without biting thank goodness as he likes to stay on my shoulder)
I'll try get a video of when he does this, i own a lovebird (3 yrs now) but a GCC has very different mannerisms than a lovebird, and i cant always tell what he is trying to tell me and this is one of those behaviours.
I dont know what he wants!
