Milton has pulled his other cheek feathers out...and continues to go after the other side. We had to leave for an hour or so this morning, and he had pulled the feathers out on the other side by the time he returned.
We'll probably have to make a visit to the AV....:(

That is so very sad and very confusing. I guess a trip to the vet is the first step.

Oh no.... I am so sorry. :sad4:

Hopefully a vet visit will answer some questions... Have there been more fire works?

I'm also hoping a vet can find a simple reason.
Sadly you may have to join us who have wardrobe challenged Toos.
I hope that isn't what's happening.
You do such a good job with Milton.
He would seem to be one of the last Too's to start plucking.
It's hard.
Wishing you and Milton all the best.

Poor Milton. That's so sad. Milty is such a special bird. I hope the vet visit helps and it's something simple. Give Milton some extra scritches for me

I'm so sorry. :sadhug2:
I really hope it's just the holiday stress and he stops as soon as the fireworks (and possibly gunshots...) stop. Or if it's medical it's simple and you can get it resolved without drama.

Poor Milty. :sadhug2:
Please leave your beautiful cockatoo poof-cheeks alone, I promise Bob will make it better.

Do you think wearing a collar would help?

Poor Milty

I've never had any bird that has begun plucking or removing feathers in any way while they were with us, so it's uncharted territory for us. Hopefully it's not a medical situation...if it is, we'll work with our vet and do anything we have to do to improve the situation. The only good thing is that it looks like the first area of plucking, done on Saturday, already has small feather buds coming in, so Milty didn't damage the follicles when he plucked the feathers.

We'll get through this...and even if Milty becomes a member of the wardrobe challenged 'too club, he will always be a Pretty, Pretty Bird...

I'm so sorry to hear this, Bob. We all know how wonderful Milton is treated and revered. Miss Coco wears a collar most of the time because she started picking herself after seven years. We can't think of any reason why, it just is......

Wishing you and Milton the very best. We love you, Milt!

Unfortunately my Cricket barbers and the vet can find no cause. I know some people automatically assume I am doing something wrong. It is not that simple or believe me, I would fix it. Hopefully this is just a temporary thing for Milton.

I really thought it might have been the fireworks that upset Milty on the weekend and caused him to pluck his feathers. We only left today for a little over an hour, and we discovered the plucking he'd done when we got home. He's in good spirits in every way...doesn't seem upset about anything.
I'm disheartened about this, but I realize that won't help Milton...we'll tackle the problem head-on...Milty's a fighter, and so are we...

oh Bob, I was hoping it would settle down, but it's my believe that it is more related to the fireworks, then any thing else. My A/C is running full blast too, because the drunken idiot that threw the last one at 4 AM this morning. none of us got much sleep last night. I came off the bed almost into the ceiling fan, both birds were scare S&#(less. took almost hour to settle both of them down. and another hour to get myself back to sleep.
Milton, we love you and are so sorry that you are so afraid of the idiots that shoot off those nasty fire crackers. Sweetheart, please don't pick any more.
