Don't just "settle" for another bird based on what "that woman" had to say. There are lots of greys that need forever homes. Surely she's not the only rescue around there. Hang in there girl, you'll get your grey.

Don't feel bad. We don't have any kids and I've been told that a Grey wouldn't do well at our place either becasue we have other birds. I don't know how true that really is but two different people have told me that. They say that because we have two 'toos and two macaws, a Grey is a bad idea becasue they don't do well living in a more active household

It's not true. If it was, I would have 2 messed up greys here, and I don't. Mine live with 13 other birds ranging from a lovebird up to macaws. And my household is as active as it gets with the avian rescue and the wildlife rescue.

I have dogs, cats, and now 4 parrots (2 are greys). I find it odd that people say that greys don't like active households... my greys ARE the active in my house! I'm not a big fan of generalizations I guess.

I agree with what others said, forget about the rescue and keep looking on craigslist, kijiji, etc. if you want a grey or ekkie.

Thanks Guys, again I agree and I think that woman was just really particular and anal about pet ownership. There are people like that.

We are going to try for a Grey again in the future, but thats not to say Im not gonna keep an eye on the internet for a rehome LOL
