We went out for the day yesterday to a Shop that has large Areas of Woodland surrounding it.. There are many Peacocks walking around! As we walked towards one, he opened his feathers in full glory and slowly turned round and round as if to show us his complete beauty

Here is a pic of him.....

Anyone my age has heard the peacock call in every exotic movie ever made in the the 1950s and 60s; and especially every Tarzan movie. To Americans it was such a startling and unusual sound. My Uncle always laughed and referred to it as the Sound of India; he said peacocks were everywhere as pest controllers and also food animals in the province where his Christian ministry did their work. When he returned to the US, he went out and bought a cock and two peahens to keep in his yard, he loved the sound so very much. It took me years to realize peacocks are pheasants and when one ordered pheasant under glass in an Indian restaurant, one was getting peacock.
