Lonely duck

so there were ducks in my pool and as there growing up and being able to fly, the mom takes them away from the pool so they can live their lives. So there were 2, until one was ready to fly. So the mom did what she usually does but...the last one is still here and it’s been 2 hours and she’s still gone. The ducky hasn’t fallen asleep yet and she’s just in the pool waiting for her mom to come back. My question is....is she gonna come back??

Yeah I hope so too, it’s like 10:30pm here so...maybe she went to sleep somewhere and come back tommorow?? I hope so, cuz poor thing is still awake waiting for her mom

She came back but then she flew off this morning and the baby is still alone

That is not normal! Is it a wild duck? If so, call your local wildlife rehab for advice, poor baby. Usually mom always stays with the babies.

it is wild, the mom had been going back and forth checking on the baby, but once the baby finally left, the mom never came back to even check if she was there
