How is life with a Galah?
It's very different!
Kishka is a little jumpy and definitely has mind all his own. He's very inquisitive and independent and is into everything. He's still working on stepping up and likes to step up and then fly away...silly little thing!
He's such a good toy player though and will play with ANYTHING! I can give him a strand of hemp and he's happy as a lark. When he's in his cage, he spends about two minutes with one toy before he goes to the next toy which he then spends another two minutes or so until he moves on to the next toy...making a little circuit in his cage!
I've joined a very good Galah list on Yahoo because I am very worried about possible phobic behaviors as he grows older. I knew going into this that Galahs can have issues with this but I didn't realize until after I brought him home how very prevalent it is. I'm going to start clicker training with him as soon as I can find a food that motivates him other than my dinner which he does seem to think is his!
So, it's definitely been interesting so far and he's definitely a joy but I think he's going to be a lot more work than any of my other birds. I'm already seeing that!
