Its Live Eagle Cam Time Again

Yes the PA one. The one where the eaglet just hatched 2 days ago and one egg remains unhatched. But the video has been having problems loading. Everyone has been complaining about that so I know it's not just me. But what small bits I do get to load are breaking my heart to peices. I know this is nature and I feared watching something bad happen live on camera.

I do see that the video is buffering a bit. I see an eagle in the nest. Is it on the eggs? Sorry, i just started watching it today.

Someone of FB said the Dad stepped on the baby during the night. Have no idea if this is true. I would think of the baby is no longer alive they would remove it from the nest.

Oh no. You would think so, but on the DNR webcam it says that they do not interfere, so it's possible it happened.

I watched yesterday as dad dropped a branch on baby several times trying to move it around the nest. Baby seemed totally fine after that. I have pictures of it

I think the consensus is the baby has passed. I do not think it was the stick that did it because baby was lively and healthy well into the early morning. the baby fed after that several times I do believe and seemed very healthy. I am so sad now and I have work to do and can't focus I checked in on my lunch break and have been wrapped up in it ever since.

I personally watched as dad appeared anxious and checked on baby several times with no response from baby at all.

Fly high over the rainbow bridge little one. Your mama and daddy loved you and fought for you through that first rainy windy night. I hope you felt loved in your short time here on earth.

I think it very well could have been that Mom was rearranging the nest with all those pokey sticks and accidentally poked the baby. I got on the site about 8 am and chick had already passed. Given that the baby was active and eating one minute and then suddenly dies speaks of some kind of trauma. Let's hope for the next baby eglet who will get lots of food and attention.

If you're not watching and can't see their faces it's hard to tell when there's a changing of the guard.

Mom buried the baby in the nest material. Was so heartbreaking to watch

At least first baby was not a meal. I read only 10 percent of chicks born in a season make it to adulthood. They can live up to 35 or 40 years.

Love watching these guys! The Decorah Eagle Cam is one I've watched for years. They have 2 babies and one yet to hatch on the nest right now!
