I personally caution thinking about any bird as a beginner bird. Many of the species that are kept by humans for companionship have long lifespans, that can be decades. I encourage you to ask yourself which bird would I be most comfortable living with for 20, 30 or more years, instead of thinking about a 'beginner bird'. A bird is a lifestyle change and long term commitment. This is true for smaller birds like finches and the largest parrots.
You could consider how much space you realistically have, the costs associated and the time required to enrich the birds life. If you work at an office or aren't home often there is also a consideration to what/how you enrich your bird when you aren't home. Some birds may have specialised diets, larger birds will have larger and more expensive toys. All birds will have veterinary expenses that can be costly. This isn't a comprehensive list, but I hope it gives you some ideas of the mindset around bringing home a bird and helping you decide which type of bird will suit your personal lifestyle and situation.
