Over a year ago we went on the waitlist for a baby linnie. We had found an awesome breeder but she only produces a few clutches each year and so we knew we might have to wait a bit for the sex and mutation we preferred.
Well the deposit slipped from our minds. Then a couple weeks back, out of the blue, we were notified that we had crept to the top of the waitlist and our time was up! We had to decide, did we want the current baby?
One look at this face and we had our answer.
We are so so SO excited to welcome this new cobalt boy to our flock! Fingers crossed he will learn to get along with baby Julian, who's been craving feathery companionship.
Here he is in his weaning cage at ~6 weeks old. He's already attempting short flights, and learning to nail his landings! The breeder estimates he'll need another week or two before he is fully fledged, weaned, and ready to go.

Dad was impatient to start breeding again as this baby was the only member of his clutch (his parent's first attempt). In his impatience he loved on baby's head feathers a little too much.
Bonus pic of his parents: A normal green male, split to turquoise, and his mauve mate. Sammy (the male) was best linnie in last fall's AFA bird show. He was 6th place overall out of 100 parrots!
